Q&A: What makes you most proud about living in your country?

Ive been often wondering, “why i am proud to be Canadian”?

This is something that i have never asked myself and i am 24 years old. I have always thought that i am lucky to be born in canada, but ive never really dug my brain as to why..

I would love to ask all of you: What makes you proud to be where you are from, and why?questionmark

Living in Canada and being Canadian is something i am proud of. I absolutely love my country, the people, the culture, the land, and the food. While on vacations to Australia and Italy, i remember a lot of the locals talking about Canada, or what they knew about it. Of course they love to point out how we say “eh” a lot, which i didn’t even realize i did that until someone told me. Also that we live in igloos.. whats with that? Where did that come from that we live in igloos? This baffled me so much that many people thought it was true, i wasn’t offended but i thought really? Then i remembered before i went to Australia i thought people would have kangaroos running around the neighborhoods like squirrels, but of course i soon found out, false. In fact when i was traveling across Australia for a month and a half, i saw only 1 kangaroo along side a highway, and a bunch in captivity at the Australia zoo. I even camped in the outback and did not see a kangaroo, not even a koala bear! There were lots of spiders (too many), scorpions, kookaburras which are more irritating to hear then the song we sang about them as kids. I guess when it all comes down to it, there is a very huge gap of what we really know about other country’s there are mostly just stigmas attached for example, italy=pizza. Mmmmm pizza… 545142_10150794019875196_1124594367_n

The Countdown – Epic Trip

Ive been waiting 8 months for this trip, and now its 18 days away. It wasn’t easy waiting this long but im glad its here. Eight days after my birthday on Thursday March 8th, I will be flying from Pearson International Airport to Vancouver British Colombia. One of the most beautiful interesting places Ive been yet. My first time to Vancouver was on my way to whistler with my awesome man last year for new years. This time i will be flying from Vancouver Airport to Kelowna Airport, where my wonderful boyfriend and friend will be picking me up. Its been 6 months since Ive seen my man and it will be nothing short of heavenly to reunite. In the following 2 weeks i will be snowboarding and living with some friends in Big White Ski Resort, we have already planned for tube rides, dinners, jam nights, and of course some cuddling. After a wicked 2 weeks of shredding pow, me and my man will be trading in out snow pants for some swim gear. On March 25th we are off to to Australia. One of my most anticipated trips thus far. We will be flying from Vancouver-LAX-Sydney-Melbourne, destination awesome. A week to get settled into my mans home city Melbourne, Victoria. Staying with his grandparents Jen and Bill along with his dad for the week right on the beach until we hit the Easter camping trip in the outback (Swan Hill). This is going to be the highlight of the trip in my eyes, it doesn’t get much better then roughing it out in the bush with a bunch of Aussies. Should be a riot, plus it will be nice to finally meet his extended family. After the outback shenanigans, we head back to Jen an Bills beach house for 5 days before flying too…..The sunshine coast of Queensland, Australia. This part of the trip will be amazing, beaches, sunshine, relaxation, exploring, all with the one i love.  We will be in Brisbane, while traveling to Byron Bay as well. After our amazing time here its time to get back to reality, On April 18th we are flying back to Melbourne, to catch out flight back to Ontario on April 19th. This will be a sad day. But it will also be so good, me and my man will finally be back home together will more great memories to look back on.
